Barbados Transportation

Getting around Barbados is highly organised, safe, and accessible. Depending on your schedule and budget, you have a few excellent options to navigate between the resort, the stadium, and local attractions:

Public Transport (Standard Fare: $3.50 BBD / $1.75 USD)

The island features three distinct types of public transit, all charging the same flat fare per one-way ride, regardless of distance:

Transport Board Buses (Large Blue Buses)
Transport Board Bus

Government-operated. These run on a strict exact-fare system. You must place the exact $3.50 BBD into the fare box; drivers cannot give change. Notes must be unfolded and shown to the driver before depositing.

Minibuses (Yellow Buses)
Minibus

Privately owned but government-regulated. They frequently play lively music and can generally provide change. They accept US dollars ($1.00 USD to $2.00 BBD).

ZR Vans (White Vans with a Maroon Stripe)
ZR Taxi

These high-frequency route taxis ply specific numbered routes across the island. They are fast, convenient, and can provide change, though they are often cosy during peak hours.

Authorised Taxis

For a direct, private route, highway and airport taxis are readily available. Bajan taxis do not use meters; instead, the government sets fixed rates based on your origin and destination. It is always best practice to confirm the fare with the driver in either BBD or USD before you load your luggage.
